Youth
Services
We believe that teenagers deserve access to accurate information and
compassionate, accessible services to help them make responsible decisions
about their sexual health. To do this, we offer specialized programs
to serve youth and to support those who work with them. (see
www.teenclinic.org
)
While
teens are always welcome at Women’s Health, we recognize that
they often feel out of place in a traditional health care setting. Therefore,
teens may feel like they don’t have access to reproductive health
services. To address this need, we offer two different clinical services
specifically for teens.
Clinical Services
Teen
Clinic
Through its Teen Clinic, Women’s Health removes barriers to access by opening hours exclusively for teens. During these specialized
clinic hours, males and females under 20 years of age can receive information,
support and confidential exams, testing, treatment and contraception
services in a youth-friendly environment, free of charge.
Teen
Clinic now has two locations! The Boulder Teen Clinic, located at
Women's Health, is open Mondays from 5-7pm, Tuesdays from 4-7pm, and Saturdays from 1-6pm.
Longmont
Teen Clinic is located in the Powell Building, 82 21st Avenue, in
Longmont. Hours are Mondays from 2-6pm, Tuesdays from 2-6pm, and Wednesdays
from 2-6pm.

hours or, for more information, see

Home-Based
Contraception Program
Women’s Health works to reduce the subsequent pregnancy rate among
Boulder County's already parenting teens through collaboration with
the GENESIS Program of Boulder County Public Health. Through this innovative
partnership, Women’s Health’s specially trained nurses provide
birth control services in the home to this at-risk population. This
service is currently only provided to active GENESIS clients.
Comprehensive Sexuality Education
Educational Presentations
Effective
health promotion and infection/pregnancy prevention programs start with
education. Women’s Health believes that teens need accurate,
age-appropriate reproductive health education to inform them as they
make responsible choices about their sexuality. To meet this end, all
educational services offered by the Youth Services Program embrace a
comprehensive approach to sexuality education. This approach includes
information about contraception and safer sex as well as abstinence.
Professional, youth-serving community health educators provide sexual
health presentations for area teachers, classrooms and agencies on a
variety of topics including: teen pregnancy, contraception, sexually
transmitted infections, safer sex and risk reduction . Custom presentations
can also be designed to meet individual needs. Information about how
to access resources and support is also included in all presentations.
For more information about presentations or scheduling, see
www.teenclinic.org/edu_services/index.html
Peer Education
Women’s Health believes in involving young people in the design
and implementation of programs that affect them. The Sexual Health and
AIDS Awareness Peer Education (SHAPE) Program is designed to reduce
young people’s risk of contracting HIV and Sexually Transmitted
Infections by increasing their knowledge and encouraging them to change
their attitudes and reduce their risk through behavioral change. It
is a collaboration with the Boulder County AIDS Project.

educator, see
